Mending Fences
Barbed wire fences are a common sight across the west, so much so that they are often overlooked as just another feature on the landscape. But the more we learn about the migration habits of animals, particularly ungulates, the more we come to understand that fences can be brutal barriers to movement. In response to new data, a variety of individuals and organizations are coming together to tear down unnecessary fencing and to retrofit those fences that cannot be removed to be more wildlife friendly.
